Blog Giveaway! "Child of Wonder: Nurturing Creative and Naturally Curious Children" book

Blog giveaway! Here's your chance to get a free copy of a great resource for inspiring little minds. Here's how: Leave a comment about your favorite organic or natural item in your household and mention why or what about it you enjoy. Here's hoping some fresh ideas from one another will encourage us all to think about what other organic and natural items might be a worthwhile addition in our homes. The winner will be chosen by drawing. Good luck and if you don't win, don't worry...we'll have more in the future. Those first checking in, feel free to read earlier posts to get to know Dandelion Summers and co better. The prize will be chosen next friday, August 7, 2009. It is a copy of the book, "Child of Wonder: Nurturing Creative and Naturally Curious Children" by Ginger Carlson, M.A. Ed. Have fun!

  1. By far, my son's favorite natural toys are his play silks. He will brung them to me to tie on his head like a hat, or use them as a baby doll sling, or even just to hide under (he is 2). We couldn't live without them in our house!

  2. Right now my almost-3 year olds just love big sheets of white construction paper and lyra little ferby pencils. They draw all sorts of designs, and ask me to cut out dolls, doll beds, mechanics, tools, every sort of thing that they then play with for hours, acting out little scenes. I love their ostheimer animals--they do too--but I'm happy to see them create little worlds out of their own art too.

  3. It's hard to narrow it down to just 1 item but something we are currently loving is our simple basket of wool. It has some (all organic) wool roving, wool yarn and some felted bits of wool. The girls play with it for hours pretending the bits of wool are different things or finger knitting with the yarn. Our cats, too are loving it!

  4. I have many but my current favorite is my MyChelle blush stick & eye creme:) I'm not much into make-up but as a tired/happy Mama of toddlers 364 days apart it's nice to put on in the morning. And the blush stick smells yummy!

  5. My favorite natural item is the Ostheimer play farm and figures I have for my girls. They play with them every day. And I find them so beautiful!

  6. It is hard to choose, but I would say that the silks and the colorful woolen fleece are played with every day : they become settings for the figures, woolen pretend foods on colorful tablecloths, beds and pillows for putting dollies to sleep, snow mountains and green meadows for the train to cross, and even a silk tunic and wool beard to become a gnome!

  7. my favorite natural items are our ostheimer animals. I began buying them years before I had children and my girls love them as much as I do. Looking forward to the new dandelion summers!

  8. oh, so many things to choose from: i think my top pick is our set of fuzzibunz cloth diapers that have seen us through three babies so far. or maybe the Charlie's soap that washes everything. but i think my little girl's current fave is a set of alpino colored pencils for her nighttime drawing.

  9. Hi, I am loving your blog. I enjoyed your post about nature walks. We are a Waldorf-inspired homeschooling family, living in a small coastal town in Alaska. No matter what the weather is like that is the first thing we do after breakfast for "school". There is certainly nothing better to inspire the rest of our day. Asfor my favorite natural or organic products, the boys love their Waldorf babies (made by me), and we all love organic milk. I would not even think of drinking it other wise. Peace and love to you. Anna
